Things You Wouldn't Know By Looking At Me…featuring queer and trans voices. We live all these lives within our one existence. Some of our experiences and accomplishments are more socially acceptable to talk about than others. This evening will break the stigma of silence and silencing, by sharing from within the closed doors of our selves.
Aimee Herman (they/them) is a gay, nonbinary writer and educator. They are the author of the novel, "Everything Grows" (Three Rooms Press) and two full length books of poems, "meant to wake up feeling" (great weather for MEDIA) and "to go without blinking" (BlazeVOX books), in addition to being widely published in journals and anthologies including BOMB, cream city review, and Troubling the Line: Trans and Genderqueer Poetry and Poetics (Nightboat Books). Aimee currently hosts several literary series around Boulder. They teach creative writing workshops in addition to collaborating with Rocky Mountain Equality on their queer creative programming. Aimee is the founding member of the poetry band, Hydrogen Junkbox. They are turned on by public libraries, garage sales and receiving mail.
Martin Dadisman was born in a cabin he built himself. Raised on hose water and neglect. A time traveler who’s abused the privilege and can’t stay in the moment. Please welcome Martin Dadisman to the stage.
Alex Vaughan, pronouns they/them, is a recovery-centered leader and a trans/nonbinary parent who birthed two children, working in the LGBTQ+ community providing peer and family support services and training& education about compassion as competence for the trans/gender diverse community. Alex does reiki and teaches dance fitness, raising 4 children with their wife, Kim.
Nadya Davis is a woman who spent the first half of her life burying and plans to spend the second half excavating. She writes short stories or scenes, poetry, and comedy. Her writing usually centers on themes of self discovery, sexuality, parenthood, love, attachment, and the human struggle to truly connect with others - to see and be seen.
Crisosto Apache is from Mescalero, New Mexico, on the Mescalero Apache reservation with Apache and Diné ancestry. Crisosto is the 11th CO Poet Laureate, an award-winning poet, 2026 recipient of the Academy of American Poets Laureate Fellowship, the Montolvo Center Lucas Artist Fellow, a three-time Pushcart Prize nominee, a board member and editor at large for the Offing Magazine, and an Associate Professor of English and Creative Writing. Apache is the author of three poetry collections and advocates for the Two-spirit/Indigiqueer community.
Angela Palermo is a poet, performer, musician and activist. She works as a Case Manager for the Colorado Coalition for the Homeless and plays bass guitar in the local band the Brand New Queers. She likes to geek out on movies, music, books and history.
Charlotte (she/they) is an author, entrepreneur, activist and advocate in many LGBTQI and BIPOC communities. Her published works cover a broad spectrum, from music and entertainment journalism to educational workshops and curriculum. Her passion is cultivating community and empowering others to create more art.
