Brand New Queers - Debut

Join us at East Window for the debut musical performance of Brand New Queers .

Brand New Queers is a gang of poetic misfits, with skin made from scar dust and a need to disrupt. They are made up of Steph Lujan, Cortney Collins, Angela Palermo and Aimee Herman.

Steph Lujan is a singer, songwriter, guitarist who writes from the heart and soul--and sometimes the ego. Steph has been playing their way through Longmont and Boulder County all while making new connections with other local artists and having fun along the way. You can follow them at: @stephlujanmusic on Instagram and YouTube.

Cortney Collins is a poet living on the Front Range of Colorado with her beloved partner and their five feline loves - Frances, Pablo (after Neruda), Lida Rose (after a barbershop quartet song from The Music Man), Figgy (still about 60% feral), and Mr. Bates (he’s not a psycho at all - he’s very sweet.) Her poetry has been published in a variety of online and print journals. She recently obtained her certification as a Listener Poet with The Good Listening Project. Cortney really should come with a trigger warning except that she doesn’t believe in trigger warnings.

Angela Palermo is a poet, performer, musician and activist. She works as a Case Manager for the Colorado Coalition for the Homeless. She likes to geek out on movies, music, books and history.

Aimee Herman is constantly in search of ways to disrupt spaces through poetry, music, and other forms of creative expression. They are a writer, performance artist, educator, letter writer, misfit and ukulele player (sometimes percussion) with The Brand New Queers. They have a new collection of poetry, "somewhere in the body a nest of anger hatches." They are currently in search of all the ways to disembowel the anger within them. Music helps. Find them at aimeeherman.com or just walk up to them and say: HELLO.
